Fate Of The Furious is driving to victory at the box office again, despite a handful of new movies entering the race. Get all the details and check out the Top 10 estimates below!
As The Club Hits Radio reported, Fate Of The Furious is the seventh installment in the Fast And Furious franchise. It is the first film without Paul Walker and the kick-off to the series’ final trilogy. The movie, led once again by Vin Diesel, sped up the box office chart last weekend, debuting with roughly $100 million.
For its second weekend, grosses are dropping by more than 60 percent, but Fate is still doing a few laps around the competition. With $36 million, it should easily hang on to first place, while Boss Baby will likely take second again with around $11.5 million. Again repeating last week’s rankings, Beauty And The Beast has a lock on third with $9.4 million.
Going In Style, directed by Zach Braff, is eyeing $4.7 million for the number four spot, but after that, all of this weekend’s new releases are duking it out with some oldies for the following slots. Right now, Katherine Heigl and Rosario Dawson’s new thriller Unforgettable is looking at a haul of $4.6 million, but so is holdover Gifted and new documentary Born In China. It’s unclear at this point which flick will fall where when it comes to the fifth, sixth, and seventh positions.
Even eighth place, right now occupied by Smurfs: The Lost Village with $4.4 million, could get swapped with any of the aforementioned flicks. And The Promise, another newbie, isn’t all that far behind with a projected debut of $4.1 million, putting it in ninth place. Just making it into the Top 10 may be The Lost City Of Z, starring Charlie Hunnam and Robert Pattinson. For its first weekend in wide release, the adventure epic is up approximately 1,800 percent and on track to bring in $2.1 million.
